ZAMBOANGA CITY – The RTWPB-IX conducted a two-day 7S of Good Housekeeping training for the City Government of Zamboanga on 7-8 August 2025 in Zamboanga City.
The training gathered 100 employees from 22 departments of the local government unit (LGU), all of whom actively engaged in learning practical strategies to maintain clean, organized, and efficient workspaces. The initiative reflects the LGU’s commitment to institutionalizing cleanliness and orderliness across all departments.
7S of Good Housekeeping introduces a workplace organization method consisting of different approaches to maintain a tidy, clutter-free work area that fosters efficiency and improves productivity.
Mr. Joel M. Ijirani, Board Secretary VI of RTWPB-IX, opened the event with a comprehensive overview of the agency’s mandate and the principles behind the 7S training.
The training sessions were facilitated by the RTWPB-IX staff Engr. Erra Jelle L. Gracia, Mr. Ric Luke B. Garcia, Ms. Hannah Segovia, and Ms. Brenda M. Quintas. They guided the participants through both theoretical discussions and interactive workshops.
Participants concluded the training by sharing their personal 7S commitments, with pledges to apply the principles of Sort, Systematize, Sweep, Standardize, Self-Discipline, Safety, and Sustain in their respective workplaces.
Representing Mayor Khymer Adan Olaso, Executive Assistant to the City Mayor Mr. Rosendo “Junty” Castillo III delivered a message emphasizing the importance of adopting 7S practices across all their departments. Tingkcang, the City Human Resource Office also attended the sessions and expressed her gratitude to RTWPB-IX for responding to their training request.
During the training impressions, Mr. Ed Ramil Natividad, Cashier I of the City Treasurer’s Office, shared: “I believe the 7S training is very helpful to us as government employees because we are obliged to apply these principles in our daily work. Although it may be challenging due to the volume of paperwork and other tasks, practices like labeling and sorting will definitely help. I will share what I’ve learned with my colleagues.”
The successful conduct of the 7S training marks a significant step toward cultivating a culture of discipline, safety, and productivity within Zamboanga City’s local government offices. (Brenda M. Quintas)
