General Santos City – The RTWPB-XII played a key role in bringing government services closer to fishing communities as it joined the third One-Stop-Shop Services Activity (OSSSA) under Programa ug Serbisyo para sa Mananagat V3 on August 12, 2025, at the General Santos City Fishport Complex, Barangay Tambler.
RTWPB-XII provided consultation services on wage matters and promoted its Productivity Toolbox programs tailored for fisherfolk and their organizations. These efforts aimed to help workers better understand their rights, improve workplace productivity, and sustain livelihoods within the fishing sector.
The event, spearheaded by DOLE Region-XII and its partner agencies, gathered hundreds of fisherfolk beneficiaries who accessed vital labor, social protection, health, and livelihood services. Among the agencies present were SSS, Pag-IBIG Fund, PhilHealth, PSA, TESDA, BFAR, MARINA, PCG, ECC, OSHC, NBI, PRO 12, NLRC, DTI, PFDA, FPOP, NTC, and local government offices.
“This activity demonstrates our collective commitment to bring government services closer to the people, especially those in vital industries such as fishing,” said DOLE XII Regional Director and RTWPB-XII Chairperson Joel M. Gonzales. “By working together with our partners, we ensure that fisherfolk are not only supported in their livelihood but also provided with protection, skills, and welfare programs for long-term development,” he added.
Also featured during the OSSSA were labor education services, including family planning and HIV orientation by FPOP, the value of SSS membership, Pag-IBIG Fund programs, and PhilHealth’s Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP).
Now in its third year, the OSSSA forms part of DOLE-XII’s Project Portfolio for the Fishing Industry, designed to deliver responsive services while strengthening collaboration with government and community partners in SOCCSKSARGEN. (Randy Oliver M. Legada)
