Built from the Ground Up: 3D Container & Packaging Phils. Corporation

May 13, 2025

In 2011, Engineer Jaie Floes Ador established the 3D Container and Packaging Philippines Corporation in Cabuyao, Laguna. With a limited capital and resources, she was mainly fueled by her advocacy to provide employment for those who were once like her – disadvantaged in life and have difficulty finding regular employment elsewhere.

3D started manufacturing corrugated boxes in a 432-square meter warehouse using secondhand machines. Engr. Ador initially hired three workers. Her multiple roles as the boss, machine operator, and admin filled necessary gaps needed to accommodate, at that time, their one and only client, now known as Denso.

Looking back now, 3D has come a long way – now owning four warehouses, three delivery trucks, and an expanded pool of container and packaging products – boxes, pallets, crates, foams, plastics, packing tapes and stretch films, among others. She started hiring orphans, porters, tricycle drivers, and others who were not able to finish school. Using her knowledge in industrial engineering, she also trained her own staff. “Ako na rin mismo nagturo sa kanila paano bumasa ng drawing, paano matutong gumamit ng mga panukat.” From three workers, 3D now employs 50 workers.

From gaining recognition in packaging solutions industry in CALABARZON, 3D earned the trust of its more than a hundred current clients from the automotive, electronics and food industries. And a once casual visit from the RTWPB-IVA opened doors of opportunities for 3D.

During the early years of the company, the staff of the RTWPB-IVA visited the office of 3D. What Engr. Ador believed to be a labor-related apprehension turned out to be an offering of trainings and assistance for them. “Nakita ko ang ID, may logo ng DOLE. Sa totoo lang, natakot talaga ako kasi ang first impression ko kapag nakakita ka ng DOLE, tapos negosyante ka na, mayroon kang kaso.”

3D availed the ladderized productivity trainings offered by the RTWPB-IVA. From there, the company has developed a strong value for work, an improved working conditions both in safety and in health, identified areas of improvements, and has established a system in measuring the productivity of its employees through key performance indicators (KPIs).

Two of the trainings 3D has valued the most are the ISTIV and 5S (now 7S of Good Housekeeping). “Iyong natutunan namin doon ang naging susi kung paano naging ISO Certified kami,” said Engr. Ador.

The ISTIV Productivity Awareness Program is a values-driven training program for quality and productivity improvement, and is rooted on the five ideal attributes of a productive individual – Industrious, Systematic, Time-conscious, Innovative, and strong Value for work. 7S of Good Housekeeping introduces a workplace organization method consisting of different approaches to maintain a tidy, clutter-free work area that fosters efficiency and improves productivity.

“Makikita niyo na iyong 5S naging strong foundation na namin, araw-araw sinusunod namin iyon. Minsan akala natin wala lang iyon, but if we compute iyong mga nase-save natin, malaking bagay. Doon na rin ako kumukuha ng mga pang-benefits sa mga tao ko,” shared Engr. Ador.

Engr. Ador also narrates that she has implemented a gainsharing program or a Productivity-Based Incentive Scheme (PBIS), through the help of RTWPB-IVA – an assistance that she finds valuable in keeping her employees. “Through that Nagtatagal sila sa akin. We always have the annual performance evaluation, and based on that annual performance evaluation, nag-i-increase parati ang performance ng tao ko and it goes with the benefits,” said Engr. Ador

PBIS is a workplace-initiated program on improving the productivity of workers and enterprises to generate savings or additional revenues, which can be shared by enterprises with their workers.

Currently, apart from proper wages, 3D provides these benefits to its employees – free breakfast, rice and grocery incentives, group insurance, health card, scholarship, birthday leave, and continuous trainings.

By also joining the Productivity Olympics since 2014, Engr. Ador also realized that business and products expansion are not the only sources of business success, but the true measure is the progress that extends to the personal lives of her workers.

“Gusto ko magkaroon ng pagbabago iyong mga empleyado na maha-hire ko kasi ramdam ko iyon eh, kasi dinanas ko rin iyon. Kaya kung magkakaroon ng magagawa na pagbabago para sa kanila, mas okay sa akin iyon. Mas iyon ang gusto kong ma-achieve ko.” Pag Produktibo, Aasenso!
