Labor Day Shines Light on the Contributions of Informal Sector Workers

In a heartfelt Labor Day celebration, workers from the informal sector were honored for their vital contributions to the local economy and were offered new opportunities for employment and livelihood support. Government agencies and private partners collaborated to offer employment opportunities and programs that aim to provide stable work for those in the informal sector. Highlights of the celebration included inspirational speeches, free health check-ups and reflexologies, sharing of good practices/success stories aimed at supporting and empowering these hardworking individuals. DOLE, RTWPB, DTI, DSWD, DOH and all partner agencies and the local officials emphasized the vital role that informal workers play in sustaining and driving the country’s economy.

The celebration served not only as a tribute to the hard work and resilience of informal sector workers but also as a reminder of their indispensable role in nation-building.
