NCR wage board holds public hearing on minimum wage adjustment

June 17, 2025

RTWPB-NCR will convene stakeholders from the labor and management sectors in the country’s capital in a public hearing on Tuesday, 17 June 2025, to discuss their positions and concerns regarding a possible minimum wage increase in the region.

The public hearing, which will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Ichikawa Hall, Occupational Health and Safety Center, North Avenue corner Sen. Miriam P. Defensor-Santiago Avenue (formerly Agham Road) in Diliman, Quezon City, concludes a series of consultations held as part of the board’s wage review mandate under Republic Act No. 6727, also known as the Wage Rationalization Act.

Under the law, the board will regularly review socio-economic conditions to determine whether there is a need to adjust the minimum wage in the region.

To ensure both sectors had the opportunity to present their concerns, the board held two sector-specific wage consultations ahead of the public hearing. The labor sector consultation took place on May 22, 2025 at the Philippine Trade Training Center, followed by the management sector consultation that took place on May 28 at the same venue.

The board will use the inputs, insights, and positions raised during the consultations and today’s public hearing to guide its deliberations in reaching a collegial decision on a possible wage hike for minimum wage earners in the region.

To recall, the last wage order for private establishments in the region was issued on 01 July 2024 and became effective on 17 July 2024.
