The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board in CALABARZON motu proprio issued Wage Order No. RB-IVA-DW-04 on 22 January 2024 increasing the monthly minimum wage of kasambahays by P1000 in the region. The new monthly minimum wage rates for kasambahays in CALABARZON will now range from P5,000 for other municipalities and P6,000 for cities and first class municipalities.

In accordance with existing laws and procedures, the wage order was submitted to the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) for review and was affirmed on 31 January 2024. The wage order will be published on 03 February 2024 and shall take effect after 15 days from its publication, or on 19 February 2024.
The increase considered the results of the consultation and public hearing, as well as the needs of domestic workers and their families, the employer’s capacity to pay and the existing socio-economic conditions in the region. The Board, comprised of representatives from the government, management and labor sectors, conducted regional public consultation last 09 January 2024 in San Pedro City, Laguna, regional public hearing on 11 January 2024 in Trece Martires City, Cavite, and wage deliberation on 22 January 2024.
The wage increase for kasambahays is expected to benefit a total of 233,909 domestic workers – approximately 28% (65,408) of whom are on live-in arrangement.

The last wage order for domestic workers in the region was issued on 15 June 2022 and became effective on 16 July 2022.
