The RTWPB–CAR conducted an orientation on the recently issued Wage Order No. CAR-24 for Department of Labor and Employment–CAR (DOLE-CAR) personnel on 09 January 2026.
The activity aimed to equip labor inspectors and regional office staff with a thorough understanding of the new wage order to ensure its effective implementation and enforcement.
The orientation covered two key areas. First, participants were briefed on the salient features of Wage Order No. CAR-24, including the adjusted minimum wage rates applicable to various sectors and localities within the CAR. Particular emphasis was placed on understanding the scope, coverage, and effective dates to guide inspectors in their advisory and monitoring roles.
Second, the session addressed wage distortion. Discussions focused on the concepts and mechanics of wage distortion, where pay differentials between employee groups are significantly reduced or eliminated by a mandated wage increase. Participants reviewed guidelines on identifying, preventing, and resolving such distortions to maintain equitable wage structures within establishments.
This capacity-building activity underscores DOLE-CAR’s proactive approach to disseminating crucial labor standards information internally. By ensuring its inspectors and staff are fully informed, the agency strengthens its mandate to protect workers’ rights and promote fair wage practices across the Cordillera region. (Albert Palma)
