RTWPB-I conducts public hearing on minimum wage determination

October 6, 2025

RTWPB-I conducted a public hearing on minimum wage determination for private workers and domestic workers in the region on September 23, 2025 in San Juan City, La Union.

The event gathered a total of hundred participants joining both in person, and virtually via Zoom.  Also, in attendance were representatives from the labor and management sectors, kasambahays (domestic workers), local government units (LGUs), and all Board members.

Public hearings play a crucial role in the Minimum Wage Determination process because this is where the Board engages the public in a discussion on wages and incomes as well as other-related issues, and where predicaments and concerns are raised and addressed.

“Lahat ng sasabihin ninyo ay icoconsider ng Board sa decision making, kailangan itong suportahan ng datos, hindi dapat padalos-dalos kung magbigay ng omento dahil hindi na ito pwedeng bawiin kung naibigay na,” Chairperson Guzman said.

The results of the public hearing will assist the RTWPB in its decision-making process before a new wage order or resolution is issued. This order or resolution must be confirmed by the NWPC and will take effect after 15 days following its publication in a newspaper of general circulation in the region.
