DOLE Regional Director Naomi Lyn C. Abellana said RTWPB-MIMAROPA is eyeing a “calibrated” wage adjustment in its upcoming minimum wage review.
“The goal is a calibrated wage order that lifts purchasing power without stalling the recovery,” RD Abellana, also Board Chairperson of RTWPB-MIMAROPA, said following the Board’s attendance to a press conference organized the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
During the press conference on 22 April 2025, PSA released a 2022-2024 Regional Accounts that reflected the region’s economic performance.
PSA data showed that key indicators such as the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) and Gross Regional Domestic Expenditure (GRDE) posted a 4.4% growth in 2024, slightly lower than the 4.6% recorded in 2023.
“By translating fresh PSA data into actionable policy, RTWPB-MIMAROPA seeks to strike a balance between the needs of workers and the capacity of employers to pay, while advancing sustainable economic growth—a mandate that has become even more urgent as the region continues its post-pandemic recovery,” RD Abellana said.
RTWPB MIMAROPA issued Wage Order No. RB-MIMAROPA-12 on 27 November 2024, which increased the daily minimum wage for private sector workers in the region by P35. The minimum wage of workers in establishments with 10 workers and above increased from P395 to P430 while those in establishments with less than 10 workers increased from P369 to P404.
Wage Order Nos. RB-MIMAROPA-12 was published on 07 December 2024 and took effect after fifteen (15) days from publication, or on 23 December 2024.
