RTWPB-MIMAROPA has issued two new wage orders granting increases to private sector workers and domestic workers (kasambahays), reaffirming its commitment to social justice, tripartism, and evidence-based wage-setting.
Under Wage Order No. RB-MIMAROPA-13, the Board simplified the wage structure by adopting a single minimum wage rate of ₱455.00 for all workers in private establishments across the region, regardless of employment size. This adjustment represents an increase from the previous rates of ₱430.00 for establishments with 10 or more workers and ₱404.00 for those with less than 10 workers.
For domestic workers, Wage Order No. RB-MIMAROPA-DW-06 raised the monthly minimum wage from ₱6,500.00 to ₱7,000.00, covering all kasambahays under live-in or live-out arrangements. Both wage orders take effect on January 1, 2026, following their publication on December 16, 2025.
RTWPB-MIMAROPA emphasized that these adjustments were guided by socio-economic indicators as well as insights gathered during prior consultations and public hearings. The decision reflects a balanced approach to protect workers’ welfare while considering business sustainability.
DOLE MIMAROPA Regional Director Naomi Lyn C. Abellana, who also sits as RTWPB-MIMAROPA Chairperson, reiterated the importance of minimum wage as a safeguard for vulnerable workers.
“The minimum wage is a safeguard for vulnerable workers, but it is not a ceiling. Employers are encouraged to pay more based on their capacity and productivity. Wage growth must keep pace with productivity and economic conditions to ensure jobs remain decent and sustainable. Our goal is to create an environment where workers are fairly compensated, businesses thrive, and the economy remains resilient,” she said.
RTWPB-MIMAROPA, likewise, encouraged enterprises to complement wage adjustments with productivity programs, fostering shared gains and inclusive growth for both workers and businesses. (Ser Michael Lancelot P. Gamboa)
