RTWPB-VIII successfully conducted a series of sectoral consultations with representatives from management, labor, and the kasambahay sector in August and September.
These activities served as an avenue for stakeholders to present their positions, raise concerns, and put forward recommendations relative to the determination of minimum wages for industry workers and kasambahay.
The consultations were held on the following dates and venues:
- August 27, 2025 (8:00 a.m.) – Sabin Resort Hotel, Ormoc City
- September 03, 2025 (8:00 a.m.) – Maasin Country Lodge and Restaurant, Maasin City
- September 17, 2025 (8:00 a.m.) – Prim Hotel, Borongan City
- September 18, 2025 (8:00 a.m.) – Business Development Center, NWSSU, Calbayog City
The conduct of these consultations enabled the Board to obtain comprehensive inputs from concerned sectors. The labor sector emphasized the need for wage adjustments in view of the prevailing socioeconomic conditions, while the management sector articulated its position on maintaining business viability and competitiveness. The kasambahay sector also put forward their perspectives, underscoring the importance of fair compensation for domestic workers.
The RTWPB-VIII conveys its appreciation and gratitude to all participants for their active engagement and meaningful contributions throughout the consultation process. The positions and recommendations presented by the labor sector, management, and kasambahay will be carefully taken into consideration during the Board’s deliberation.
As part of the next phase, the Public Hearing on Minimum Wage Determination for Industry Workers and Kasambahay shall be conducted in Tacloban City. This will serve as the final platform for stakeholder engagement prior to the issuance of a new wage order, if any. (Joben S. Sabay)
